counseling & art therapy
People go to counseling for a variety of reasons. Sometimes people are looking for insight and the courage to talk about what is happening in their lives, change their situation, work on relationships, or sort through a difficult decision. Whatever the reason, the first step of looking for a therapist is generally the hardest and bravest.
Counseling can take many different forms, depending on the therapist, the client, and the relationship they build with one another. Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses art materials, such as paints, chalk and markers to gain insight into underlying thoughts and feelings that might be difficult to put into words but can be expressed through art making.
Through traditional talk therapy, and adding art therapy techniques where appropriate, we will work together to identify the challenges you face and begin the process of achieving your goals. Art making isn’t just for the kids; everyone is capable of creative expression, even the adult who hasn’t picked up a crayon or paintbrush since elementary school.
You can get to know more about me and my practice on the following pages. I offer a free 30 minute in-person consultation to give you a chance to decide if this is the right fit for you. Feel free to contact me via email or phone with any questions you may have and to set up a consultation appointment. I look forward to meeting you!
Art therapy isn’t about what you make, but what happens as you experience the process, and how you may begin to see things differently.
